Midtown moving date and open houses
The target date for the first worship services at our new Midtown location is Sunday, February 10. This date may move based on construction progress, but we are excited to set this as our target date for holding worship services in the new building.

Interested in checking out our new Midtown building at 4550 N. Illinois Street? Open houses will be held on Sunday, January 20 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and Saturday, January 26 from 9 am to 11 am. A staff member will be on hand to answer questions as you get familiar with the layout and location of the various rooms in the new building. Children are welcome, but please note that they must be accompanied by an adult at all times as we are still under construction.

If you would like a refresher on our new building, or details on what we plan to do with our space at 6151 N. Central, please download our information packet or check it out on our website. We look forward to seeing you at an open house!

Counting - more than just math
Are you reliable, in a house church, have a strong attention to detail and able to maintain confidentiality regarding donations and donors? The counting team is seeking volunteers for both our Midtown and West locations. Accounting knowledge is not necessary – just a willingness to serve in this important role.

Team members typically count twice per month, and each week’s offering takes approximately 10 minutes to count per service. To learn more, please contact Stephanie at Stephanie.lesnet@us.pwc.com.

Redistribute - the results
During the month of December, our church raised more than $38,000 for Redistribute – an effort to distribute some Gospel hope in a very tangible way. These funds will flow through 5 of CGCC’s partners to equip international pastors, fund micro-enterprise initiatives, provide AIDS treatment and hospitalization for orphans, supply materials for building homes for those in need, send children to Christian summer camp for urban youth, provide clothing and shelter for the homeless, and much more.

Thank you for contributing to this movement to redistribute our resources to those in need and engaging the injustices of our world. To learn more about Redistribute and the participating partners, check out the brochure.

Parent pages - not just for parents
At Common Ground, we believe that God has appointed parents as the primary religious disciplers of their children and the church’s role is to assist in the cooperative effort of that task. One way that we assist parents is by providing them with a monthly parent page to utilize as a jumping off point for daily biblical discussion. These parent pages are based on the current Sunday school curriculum and provide a variety of ideas to employ when discipling your children. They are also great tools for use during house church!

Pick up a parent page outside of your child’s classroom or download them from the children's ministry page on our website.

MOPS at Midtown
MOPS, Mothers of Preschoolers, is an international organization that recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Their mission is “to nurture every mother of preschoolers according to her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.” While MOPS is a non-denominational Christian organization, all mothers of preschoolers are welcome, regardless of religious beliefs.

A MOPS group provides an opportunity to share concerns, explore areas of creativity, and hear instruction that equips moms for the responsibilities of family and community. Moms interested in learning more about the MOPS group that meets at our Midtown location can visit their webpage. Or, for registration information, please contact Jody Lukowiak at jldoddridge@yahoo.com or 896-5590.

In addition, MOPS is seeking volunteers to assist with classes of children from infants to 5 years of age for next semester. Classes run from 8:30 am until 11:30 am on the first and third Friday of every month, and you may volunteer once or as many times as you'd like. You will receive a gift card each time, and you can even bring your own children! For more information, contact Amy Hartsock at ahartsock@iquest.net or 574-1735.
