Swimming in a sea of yellow bags
By Sunday, April 26 more than 400 yellow bags (and grocery bags…and boxes) of non-perishable food and household items were collected by our members.

Donated items from both of our sites were piled into the foyer at our Midtown location. On Thursday, May 1, Shepherd Community arrived with a truck to take the donated food to their pantry. It took several staff and volunteers nearly an hour to load all of the items onto the truck.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this effort to help bridge the gap for Shepherd Community and the hungry in Indianapolis. If you would like to continue donating food to Shepherd’s food pantry, you can take items directly to them at 4107 E. Washington Street. To learn more about Shepherd, please visit their website.

Need help teaching your kids this month?
In Deuteronomy chapter 11 the Bible tells us that we must fix the words of the Lord on our hearts and minds and “Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Sounds easy, right?

We know that instructing your children in the ways of the Lord can be a challenge. As a church, Common Ground desires to be an instrument to help you raise your children to be faithful Christians. One way we aim to help you accomplish this goal is by providing a monthly parent page. These pages are age appropriate and provide a great way to incorporate the Lord into your family’s daily life. They provide an overarching topic that guides the month’s weekly themes, Bible verses, discussion topics and activities.

A new parent page is available every month. Be sure to check out the May pages today!

Common Ground Outdoor Fellowship
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
Psalm 19:1-4

God reveals Himself in majestic ways through His creation, a world that still retains shadows of what He called “very good.” Sometimes it is important to escape the world that mankind has created and meet with God in the world He created.

The Common Ground Outdoors Fellowship is an informal group of people in and around Common Ground who have a love for the outdoors. Activities have varied from roller blading on the Monon Trail to whitewater rafting in West Virginia (pictured at right) to backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. Trips planned by group participants provide great opportunities for people to spend time with God in His creation, challenge themselves to try new things, and build relationships with people who share a love of the outdoors.

For more information, or to join, please visit the Ministry Teams page on our website.
