By Sunday, April 26 more than 400 yellow bags (and grocery bags…and boxes) of non-perishable food and household items were collected by our members.

Donated items from both of our sites were piled into the foyer at our Midtown location. On Thursday, May 1, Shepherd Community arrived with a truck to take the donated food to their pantry. It took several staff and volunteers nearly an hour to load all of the items onto the truck.

 

Thank you to everyone who participated in this effort to help bridge the gap for Shepherd Community and the hungry in Indianapolis. In Deuteronomy chapter 11 the Bible tells us that we must fix the words of the Lord on our hearts and minds and “Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Sounds easy, right?

 

We know that instructing your children in the ways of the Lord can be a challenge. As a church, Common Ground desires to be an instrument to help you raise your children to be faithful Christians. One way we aim to help you accomplish this goal is by providing a monthly parent page. These pages are age appropriate and provide a great way to incorporate the Lord into your family’s daily life. They provide an overarching topic that guides the month’s weekly themes, Bible verses, discussion topics and activities.
