We sponsored a lot of backpacks!
Wow – have we sponsored some backpacks! Common Ground has exceeded our goal of sponsoring 150 backpacks for the Jireh Back to School Blast, sponsored by Clarian Health. Our congregation sponsored a total of 173 and made financial donations which resulted in an additional financial gift to Jireh in excess of $700. Thank you to everyone who participated and gave so generously to the children of Indianapolis!

If you sponsored an empty bag, please be sure to bring it back this Sunday, July 20, filled with the supplies on the shopping list located in the bag. We ask that you not add additional items to the bag to ensure that each child receives the same school supplies.

Would you or your house church like to assist with the Blast on August 9? Volunteers are still needed, so please email Marissa to join in the fun!

Upcoming sermon series
Recently, a few members of the staff took an overnight retreat for sermon planning. They had a great time and put together the plan for what we will be working through in our Sunday worship times over the next couple of months.

In August, we will kickoff our next sermon series by taking a look at the book of Jonah. This short study will be followed by revisiting the vision and mission of our church in September. We will ask some questions about why we exist, why we do things the way we do, and where we are headed as a church.

October will bring a study of the book of Revelation that will take us into the season of Advent. We will pause in our study of Revelation as we prepare together for the Christmas season. In January, we will resume our study of Revelation and continue until it is completed in the spring.

There’s a lot coming up, and we look forward to experiencing it with you! As always, please keep in mind that this is a tentative schedule and is subject to change as the Spirit leads.

Do you like coffee?
The coffee team is looking for someone with a passion for great coffee and service to join the team as the new coordinator at Midtown. Our current coordinator will remain on the team and provide ongoing support to the new coordinator. Opportunities for this volunteer include maintaining the online calendar, setting the volunteer schedule, ordering supplies and making an occasional trip to a local retailer.

For more information on this position or the team, please contact Kim Howenstine.

The counting ministry needs you!
Are you reliable, in a house church, have a strong attention to detail and able to maintain confidentiality regarding donations and donors? The counting team is seeking volunteers for both our Midtown and West locations. Accounting knowledge is not necessary – just a willingness to serve in this important role.

Team members typically count once per month, and each week’s offering takes approximately 10 minutes to count per service. To learn more, please contact Stef.

Quick Updates
Opportunities for Teachers and Volunteers
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is looking for childcare providers for our upcoming session. We welcome men, women, young and old to join us in the celebration of guiding our children, our MOPPETS. Meetings are the first and third Friday mornings during the school year at Midtown. Please contact Carey Siegler to discuss details, questions and compensation.

Revive
Revive is a new quarterly corporate gathering that reflects our desire to re-engage our community in dialogue and prayer about the purpose and direction of our church. We hope and expect that all committed partners of CG will participate in this gathering in order to pray, be informed and be encouraged. Mark your calendars for the inauguration of Revive – July 25 at 6:30 pm! Registration for childcare has closed, but you may join the waitlist here.
