Unity Gathering - September 28
Please plan to join us for a Unity Gathering on Sunday, September 28 at 10:30 am at the Egyptian Room of The Murat Centre in downtown Indianapolis. This Unity Gathering is an opportunity to celebrate what God is doing in our church, and to remind us about the bigger picture and how we fit into it. Services at our Midtown and West locations will not be held that day so that we can all gather together in one place.

Since we'll be celebrating in a different venue, there are a few items to note. First, children’s ministry will be provided for infants through age 2, and parents are required to provide a photo ID when they drop off their child. Secondly, offering baskets will be located by each entrance to the Egyptian Room. Finally, street parking is available around the theatre and The Murat Centre lot will also be open for parking. Where possible, please consider carpooling with others as CGCC will be charged for each car parked in the Murat lot.

The Murat Centre is located at 502 N. New Jersey Street. For more information about the venue, please visit their website.

Training and Equipping - Saturday, October 4
The next Quarterly Training and Equipping is October 4 from 9 am to 3 pm at Midtown (4550 N Illinois St). The following tracks will be offered:

1. Intro to Common Ground and House Church - Intro to CG (9-12) is for anyone new to CG and will provide an overview of the mission, goals and vision of our church. Intro to HC (12-3) provides an understanding of why we value house churches and will prepare attendees for engagement in a HC. One can choose to attend the morning, afternoon, or both sessions when registering.

2. House Church Leader – This class, specifically designed and encouraged for leaders of house churches, will explore the topic of “spiritual formation” in the context of house church. Formation, like the forming of a pot from clay, brings to mind shaping and molding…helping something with potential become something actual. As house church leaders, we’ll discuss the opportunity we have to be an integral part of this spiritual work in people’s lives.

3. Baptism - This class will run from 9 am – 12pm only and will provide an in-depth look at baptism, including its origin, significance and relevance today.

4. Good $ense Budgeting - This class will present easily understood and biblically-based concepts regarding money and budgeting, including its place in the lives of Christ-followers. Attendees should come prepared with an accurate count of their income, monthly and expected one-time expenses, and all debts.

There is no cost to register for this event. Snacks and a light lunch will be provided for all adults. Childcare is available for children age 0 through 12. The deadline to request childcare as part of your registration is September 21. Training and Equipping Registration closes on September 27. Please register online via Training and Equipping Registration.

More than just a visit to Flagstaff
In mid-July, eleven adults and one infant made our way out to Flagstaff, Arizona as part of a vision trip to partner with The Refuge, a Common Ground church plant. We stayed on the campus of the Indian Bible College, which is a small college aimed at preparing Native American Christians to minister on the reservations.

During the daytime hours, we had the opportunity to perform manual labor such as trimming windows, demolishing unwanted walls and bathroom facilities, recementing stairs, and other miscellaneous tasks. In the evenings, we spent the majority of our time with the members of The Refuge. We were challenged to get to know the heartbeat of Flagstaff and to catch the vision of The Refuge as we joined them for prayer walks, surveying the downtown area, and passing out food to the hungry.

We also had the privilege of participating in a house church gathering and joining in their Sunday evening service. It was a blessing to experience the vibrant presence of the Lord and to encounter a clear picture of kingdom living in their small gathering. While their human nature desires to be a larger group by now, they remain committed and faithful to their call in Flagstaff, and the Lord has been faithful to provide the right encouragement at needed times.

On a more personal note, we as a group were blessed with a great sense of group unity, which we had been prayerful about leading up to the trip. Our eleven member group was comprised of eight members of one West Side house church and three from a Midtown house church, but the Lord quickly bonded us as a team, and we were able to grow and serve as one body.

On the final day of our trip, we had the pleasure of touring the Grand Canyon. It was a wonderful way to bid farewell to Arizona!
