Before the rush of the holiday shopping season of 2009, our church asked how we could participate in bringing us closer to a world where the hungry are fed, the thirsty have water, the naked have clothes and the homeless have a place to call home. Our church’s response was to donate nearly $23,000 to 5 of Common Ground’s partners.

Please join us as we launch Nehemiah Night again beginning Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 pm at our Midtown location (4550 N. Illinois Street). During this monthly prayer gathering, we will engage in prayer and conversation about what God is doing among us and seek to be more connected as a house church network. We believe that this will be a time of refreshment that will be of benefit to all of us who desire to be a part of what God is doing in our family. We hope that you will make Nehemiah Night a regular part of the rhythm of your life.

 

Limited childcare will be available on a first come, first served basis. If you, or your house church, would like to serve in childcare so that others may attend this event, please contact Martina. You will be paid for your time, though you may also choose to volunteer.

Please mark your calendars for the third annual St. Thomas Aquinas/Common Ground Blood Drive on Sunday, March 7. The blood drive is a long-standing event for our Midtown neighbor and we are excited to partner with them for another successful drive. Childcare is available while you donate, so plan to head over with the entire family!

Contribution letters for 2009 will be mailed before the end of January. Once you receive your letter, please review it carefully to ensure that it does not contain any errors.

Nicaragua Vision Trip - Deadline January 25

Applications and deposits for our March 6-17 Nicaragua vision trip are due by Monday, January 25. For details, visit the Vision Trip page of our website or send us an email.

 

Volunteers are needed in our children's ministry at both Midtown and West. To learn more, contact Martina.

 

Intro to Common Ground is an opportunity for those who are new to Common Ground to learn about the vision, values and story of our community. The next gathering is Tuesday, February 2 at 6 pm. Attendance is limited and a light dinner and childcare are provided. To learn more about this gathering, including future dates and registration, please follow this link.

 

Training and Equipping 

The next Training and Equipping is February 6 from 9 am to 3 pm at Midtown (4550 N Illinois Street). There is no cost to attend and snacks and a light lunch will be provided for all adults.
