Reminder to parents and teachers - children’s ministry meeting on May 23
It is with great excitement that we invite you to a gathering following each morning worship gathering on May 23. Since the beginning of the year there’s been some new activity in the children’s ministry at Common Ground and we want to get our core partners (you – parents and teachers) together to talk about some of these things. Specifically, we will be:
  • Sharing the new guiding values of Common Ground’s children’s ministry
  • Updating you on the children’s ministry task force
  • Honoring our children’s ministry teachers
  • Providing practical formation tools for parents and teachers to employ this summer
We will meet immediately after the morning worship services for approximately 25 minutes. So pick up your child from class and go directly to:
  • Community Room in the basement at Midtown or the Art Room at CGCC-West
  • Kids are included and snacks will be provided!
The information that we’ll be sharing is very important for our children, so we look forward to seeing you and your family on May 23! If you have any questions, please email Martina.

Is this the first time you’ve heard of this meeting? If so, we don’t have your contact information for our children’s ministry email list. Please click here to share your information with us.

Whoa...did you see that?
Ever wonder how the song slides move from verse to verse on the screen during worship? A team of Worship Team volunteers, known as Visual Techs, makes that happen each week. The great news is that there's an opportunity for you to join the team! We're looking for additional volunteers and no experience is necessary - just a willingness to serve one Sunday per month. If you are interested in joining this ministry, please send us an email for details.

Campus Crusade - a story from The Well
In Issue 73, we shared the story of Bethany and how The Well has influenced her walk with Christ as a freshman at Butler. This Campus Crusade meeting held at our Midtown location (4550 N. Illinois Street) continues to impact those students intentionally seeking Him. For James, The Well isn’t just a place to drink deeply of God’s Word, but also a place where lives are literally saved. Below is his story...

The Well has made a major impact in my life. I came to Butler from Reunion, Florida as a struggling Christian that felt like God didn’t love me or hear me. I was down to the point where I didn’t want to live anymore and felt like I couldn’t fulfill the purpose that God had placed on my life. I was in terrible shape.

This continued throughout the first semester of my freshman year, bouncing from group to group, trying to make a name for myself and find a place. I knew I needed to get in touch with God and get around people that would encourage me and lift me up in the spirit; to pray with me and help me in my Christian walk. I found those people at the Well. And after Big Break in Panama City and seeing God move, not only in the lives of everyone there but my life also, my faith in Christ was restored. I owe it all to God first and I praise Him for it. And I continually thank Him for organizations like Campus Crusade for Christ because without them and without The Well, I truly know and believe I wouldn’t be here today.

The Training School visits Costa Rica
In April, the Training School took a trip to the Yoga Farm in Punta Banco, Costa Rica. According to Nick, one of the Training School pilgrims, “Costa Rica is one of the most spiritually charged places I have ever been.”

The group of approximately 12 travelers made the three day journey in and out of Punta Banco to spend four days on the Yoga Farm. Included in the group were the Training School pilgrims, a flight engineer for the Navy, a marketing rep in Atlanta, and several 'extended stay' volunteers.

Nick said, “The trip felt a lot like summer camp, you make a friend - have meaningful, no messing around, real conversations about life, faith and God - and then they are gone. Yet many of these conversations were life changing for all involved. Larry had us read the book of Mark a few months ago and in it Jesus tells and explains the parable of the Sower and the Seed (Mark 4). If you know this parable it describes much of what we experienced on our trip. Here is the short list:
  1. Hearts were tilled and softened
  2. Seeds were planted
  3. Jesus was there
  4. Thorn bushes, weeds and devils were there too
“The only difficulty I have had since returning from the trip was trying to determine which role we played. Was the soil of my heart being softened and tilled or was I planting seeds with the Farmer? Perhaps both happened.”
