Back to School Blast coming soon!
Once again, Common Ground has joined with Shepherd Community Center for their annual Back to School Blast. Last year, we sponsored more than 150 backpacks for children attending IPS School 43, located at 39th and Capital. This year, we will also provide backpacks to children at IPS School 96, just a short distance from CGCC-West. Our hope is to continue our support of School 43 and grow our community involvement on the west side of Indianapolis.

Backpacks will be available for sponsorship at all services at Midtown and CGCC-West on July 18, 25 and August 1. You have the option to sponsor a filled bag for $25 or take an empty bag for $10 and fill the bag with items on a supply list. Backpacks must be returned to Common Ground by Sunday, August 8. If you would like to volunteer to work at the sponsorship tables at either Midtown or West, email Marissa. Please indicate the dates and worship services you would like to help.

Uganda scouting trip July 19-31
A team of 7 will travel to Uganda on a scouting trip July 19-31 in preparation for Steve and Bridget Hurry’s move there with a multi-gifted team in 2012. The purpose of this scouting trip includes determining how the team will be sent, the location where they will be living, and potential ministries for partnerships in Kampala and northern Uganda. For more background information on our plans for Uganda, check out this e-news article.

Please pray for the team and their time in Uganda. If you have questions or are interested in exploring the opportunity of joining Common Ground and the Hurrys in 2012, please send us an email.

Build a foundation of faith
Did you know that the early months of life are truly crucial to the positive spiritual formation and growth of all children? By loving, holding, feeding and changing babies in our Nursery, we are putting bricks in the foundation of trust our children need in order to know and love God.

We want our babies and their families to know that God’s community of people is a safe and good place for them to be. One way that we can do this is by providing consistent and loving caregivers in our Nursery each Sunday. Please consider helping us do this by joining the Nursery teaching team. Additional information and volunteer applications are available online. If you have questions, please contact Martina.

Compassion
During KidsGames 2010 children learned that changing the world starts with God and that He chooses to partner with us. They heard stories from the Bible that demonstrate how followers of Jesus practice kindness towards others and then they got to live this out by completing compassion projects.

Our compassion projects included:
  • Collecting, cleaning and praying over 49 pairs of shoes and socks for orphans in Uganda
  • Cleaning Tarkington Park
  • Rehabbing the garden at School 43
  • Collecting nearly $180, clothing and socks for The PourHouse
  • Making cards and visiting older adults
  • Planting flowers at Common Ground's Midtown location
Not only were these projects intended to change the world, but also the children as they learned to live out Kingdom values. Thank you for your efforts in helping our children live into their faith through KidsGames!

Quick updates
You’re Invited!
We want to invite you to financially participate in the mission of Common Ground. Contributions can be made each Sunday in the offering box or mailed to the church office using any institution that supports online banking. We look forward to you joining us!

Volunteer Opportunity
Ever wonder how the song slides move from verse to verse on the screen during worship? A team of Worship Team volunteers, known as Visual Techs, makes that happen each week. The great news is that there's an opportunity for you to join the team! We're looking for additional volunteers and no experience is necessary - just a willingness to serve one Sunday per month. If you are interested in joining this ministry, please send us an email for details.

Nehemiah Night
Our next monthly prayer gathering, known as Nehemiah Night, is on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 pm at Midtown. Please join us as we engage in prayer and conversation about what God is doing among us and seek to grow relationships across our house church network. Volunteers are needed to provide limited childcare during Nehemiah Night. To sign up for your month(s) to serve, please click here

Intro to Common Ground
