Child Dedication
Child Dedication at Common Ground is a practice where parents make a solemn commitment to raise their children in the way of Jesus. Our ceremony is a public recognition of the importance of the parent’s and church role in providing a nurturing and loving context where children can experience the Gospel. It is also a time where parents recommit themselves to their own spiritual formation.

The next child dedication is Sunday, September 5. For more information and registration, please visit our website. The deadline to register is August 29.

Interested in becoming a Safe Family?
Safe Families for Children is a network of Christian families that provide parents in need with a loving sanctuary for their children in time of crisis. Safe Families enable parents facing temporary crisis to address the issues that led to their situation, by providing a loving, Christian refuge for their children. Several Common Ground families have joined this effort by opening their homes for periods of time from days to months to children that may otherwise have nowhere else to go.

On Saturday, September 18 from 10 am until 11:30 am at Midtown (4550 N. Illinois Street), we will host a meeting for anyone interested in knowing more about Safe Families and how to be involved. Krista Davis, Director of Safe Families, Indianapolis, will speak and be available to address any questions. Registration is required, and childcare is available if you respond by September 7.

Please click here to register. For more information about Safe Families, check out their website. Have additional questions? Contact Erica Denney.

Paid and volunteer childcare workers needed
One way we seek to fulfill Common Ground’s mission of being formed into the image of Jesus is by offering various training and equipping opportunities. With these events comes the need to provide childcare for the participants.

Common Ground is seeking adults who have experience with and enjoy caring for children age 0-12 in a dynamic setting. These individuals must be willing to provide all the necessary primary care for infants and facilitate independent and group activities for older children. You do not need to be a “teacher” but you do need to be willing and able to:
  • change diapers
  • feed children
  • solve classroom disputes/redirect inappropriate behavior
  • provide appropriate discipline
  • love on our children
All applicants will be required to undergo background, sex offender and reference checks. Days and times of service vary depending on our needs. If selected, you will be added to our pool of childcare providers and have the opportunity to serve in both volunteer and paid capacities.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Martina.

We're Growing and We Need You!
