About MOPS
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be!  MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

A MOPS group provides a caring, accepting atmosphere for today’s mother of preschoolers.  Here she has an opportunity to share concerns, explore areas of creativity, and hear instruction that equips her for the responsibilities of family and community.

Mission Statement
MOPS International was founded in 1973 and has grown to thousands of chapters all over the world. Its stated mission is “to nurture every mother of preschoolers according to her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.” MOPS is a non-denominational Christian organization, but all mothers of preschoolers are welcome, regardless of religious beliefs.

MOPS at Common Ground
Common Ground hosts a MOPS Charter that started in the fall of 2006. A steering team of eight moms plan the meetings and make policies specific to our group. We meet on Friday mornings as scheduled on the MOPS calendar where we enjoy community, have refreshments and do a creative activity. While the moms meet, children (birth-kindergarten age) participate in a program called MOPPETS.

MOPPETS
During the MOPS meetings, your child will be cared for by MOPPETS workers in the childcare facilities of Common Ground.  MOPS of Common Ground is seeking teachers and volunteers to lead classes of children (a.k.a. MOPPETS) from infants to 5 years of age.  MOPPETS teachers would need to be available from 9 am until Noon. on the first and third Friday of every month.  If interested, lead teachers will be required to fill out an application and/or background check.

Lead teachers will:

  • Be provided a curriculum to lead the classes they will teach.
  • Be paid.
  • Be enthusiastic about teaching pre-school aged children.

Volunteers will:

  • Assist the lead teacher in teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Be enthusiastic about working with pre-school aged children.
Sick Child Guidelines:
It is important to us all to keep the children attending MOPPETS healthy. A child who is sick or not feeling well most likely will not have fun being in MOPPETS. Please do not bring a child to MOPPETS who:
  • Has had a fever within the past 24 hours
  • Has vomited within the past 24 hours
  • Has a constant runny nose or has green or yellow discharge from nose
  • Has a constant cough
  • Has swollen glands, sore throat or earache
The parent will be notified immediately if a child shows signs of illness during a MOPS meeting. The child will need to be taken home.
