PURPOSE: Join us on a family-friendly vision trip as we travel to Steubenville, Ohio to share the love of Christ by serving many residents in need in this community—through children’s and elderly ministries and home improvement projects. The trip is tailored to the needs and capabilities of all ages and aims to provide meaningful service opportunities for the entire team, as well as cultural and recreational opportunities that every generation can enjoy.  Evening activities will provide an opportunity for the team to relax, enjoy fellowship with one another or experience the culture of the community. ABOUT THE CITY: The charming, small town of Steubenville, Ohio, sits on the banks of the Ohio River. Residents take pride in the city’s history, while also enjoying its current slow-paced and friendly atmosphere. But like other small towns, some residents in Steubenville struggle with poverty. Steubenville is located in eastern Ohio, just across the Ohio River from the state of Pennsylvania. It is the county seat of Jefferson County and home to 19,015 residents. Steubenville’s rich history is painted on 25 outside walls in the city’s downtown area. Because of this unique display, Steubenville is known as the “City of Murals.” Workers are mostly blue-collar as the city’s economic base is manufacturing. Jefferson County struggles with unemployment and a high number of residents (20.4 percent) live in poverty, including nearly 30 percent of those under age 18 and 11 percent of those ages 65 and older. But what Steubenville lacks in opportunity, it makes up for in the strength and character of its residents who will warmly welcome you to serve.
