Midtown Advent 2017

Advent is a season of waiting and anticipation … a time to remember anew the coming of Jesus.  As we enter this season, we encourage you, your family, roommates, and friends to join us in observing Advent through the lighting of an Advent wreath, traditional scriptural readings and more. May we all find the Light of Christ this season and always.

Included in these pages is a brief overview of Advent, the daily reading guide, and weekly ADVENT WREATH instructions. We invite you to purchase your own Advent Wreath and candles and join us in this weekly Advent tradition.

Above is a daily reading guide derived from the Revised Common Lectionary. We invite you to dive into scripture daily throughout the Advent season. Learn about the prophesy, the promise, and various accounts in the Bible leading up to the birth of Christ.

DEC 11 -16, 2017

Advent is a season of preparation as we remember and celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world! But how often do we find ourselves on the other side of Christmas feeling as though we never took the time to reflect on and savor the coming of Immanuel? Sustainable Faith Indy invites you to make this Advent and Christmas season unmistakably different! Take time off from daily life and work for a half-day or full-day Advent Retreat at Sustainable Faith Indy. Sustainable Faith will provide a private room for your retreat along with a written guide to give direction for your reflection and prayer.

When: Monday, December 11th—Friday, December 15th

What time: 8 am to 12 pm, 1 pm to 5 pm, or 8 am to 5 pm

Lunch: Whether you are coming, going or staying, you are invited to share lunch around the table from noon to 1pm.

Cost: $30 for a half-day; $60 for a full-day. Cost includes lunch. You can pay by check, cash or credit card.

The Jesse Tree represents the family tree, or genealogy of Jesus Christ. It tells the story of God’s salvation plan from creation and throughout the Old Testament, to the coming of the Messiah. Included in this resource is a downloadable reading schedule and ornaments to color or create with your child.

On Sunday, Nov 26th, Jim reminded us that Advent is a season of revelation. He invited us to seek God for revelation for ourselves personally, and for the body of CG Midtown. To guide you in this pursuit Jim has written an article with encouragement and suggestions. May God reveal himself to us in new ways this season.
