God in the Garden

July & August 2022

The biblical story of the relationship between humanity and God begins in the Garden of Eden and concludes in a garden where the tree of life provides fruit and healing. Adam and Eve were gardeners. The prophet Jeremiah tells the people in exile to plant gardens. Jesus walked through a vineyard with his friends and prayed in a garden during his final hours. He was later buried in a garden and, in that garden, he would meet with Mary after the resurrection.

There is something about being in a garden that draws us near to God. In the garden, we discover that all of life is spiritual. What we eat and how we use our bodies to create food connects us to the Creator, who invites us to worship with all of our heart, soul, and strength.

This summer, we will visit scripture that will open our eyes to the agricultural metaphors in the Bible. Along with this series, look for opportunities in our upcoming events to encounter God through various additional experiences.

Please Note: On the third Sundays of the month this summer, our services will not livestreamed, as we worship in Tarkington Park on those days. Learn more.

Embodied: Living the Gospel in the Flesh

June 2022

We live our lives in the container called the body. It is our home, but there is so much more to us. Heart, soul, mind, and flesh make up what we call our “self.” When Jesus comes to give life abundantly, it is for this whole self. Therefore, our formation should inform both how we think and what we do.

This June, over the course of four weeks, we will take time to consider what it means to live the Gospel with our whole selves. We will explore what it means to embody the Gospel through the lens of mission, worship, fellowship, and justice as aspects of our lives that are being formed into the image of Jesus.
