Jesus declares that his disciples will bare witness to the salvation of God by their presence in the world. We are equipped by the Holy Spirit with everything we need to be ambassadors of His good news. We do not need power or influence from any source other than Jesus and when we think we do, we hide our light and lose our flavor.
