February 1-10, a team of seven from Common Ground Midtown traveled to Beirut, Lebanon with plans of providing a retreat for the Youth for Christ (YFC) staff along with some funding for a Youth Reconciliation Center. Armed with $11,500 raised from the Midtown congregation during our 2016 Redistribute campaign, the team was ready to provide practical assistance and prayed that they would see more clearly how Common Ground is being invited to partner in God’s work in the Near East.

Lent began Wednesday, March 1 and is marked by the 40 days, not including Sundays, between Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. We observe Lent as a deliberate way to join with the church around the world in preparing ourselves for celebrating Easter (resurrection).

This Lenten season Midtown will focus on the metaphor of God as Master Potter. We’d like to invite you to attend 2 pottery classes - one at the start of your Lenten journey and the second class during Holy Week. Weekly devotional materials will be sent to you to help you connect to this theme between your class experiences.
