Life in God’s kingdom is an invitation into a new way of living together in the way of Jesus. Deep spiritual formation does not happen in isolation; it requires others who encourage, challenge, and walk with us.
In Jesus’ ministry and the early church, this shared life often unfolded around a table, which is a place of presence, learning, generosity, and belonging. Throughout Scripture, the table represents a space to encounter God’s presence, remember His faithfulness, practice hospitality, and be equipped together. It is also at the table that the risen Jesus makes himself known (Luke 24:13–35). Inspired by this biblical vision, CG Midtown seeks to embody the way of Jesus through Table Groups.
Vision for Table Groups
A Table Group is a committed community of people orienting their lives around the person and way of Jesus. Together, we live into Jesus’ call to make disciples, both inwardly and outwardly.
Inward (Formation): Being shaped by God’s love and the transforming work of the Spirit to become more like Jesus.
Outward (Mission): Living as Christ’s ambassadors, joining God’s work in the world for the sake of others.
What Is a Table Group?
Table Groups are the primary place where church happens. They are not simply Bible studies or social gatherings, but intentional, weekly communities centered on three core values:
Belong — Living in Community: Groups of 8-14 people from the same area commit to sharing life together.
Grow — Orienting Life Around Jesus: Groups gather weekly to pray, reflect on Scripture, share honestly, and listen to the Spirit.
Respond — Serving the Neighborhood: Groups seek the Spirit’s guidance to embody the good news of Jesus through presence, compassion, and service.
